| Note* | Material came from Internet from GenWeb site and is a reprint of a news group article written in September 1995. It is from Clifford D. Young, Subject: Re: Terrill/Turrill/Tyrrell. Filed under 929.4 Jared Terrill came to the Marshall Co., West Virginia area from Waterbury Conn., in the late 1790's. Jared built a log cabin on Middle Grave Creek and divided the 1000 acre grant amongst his children. Most of them there is no record of except in the will. Jared and his wife Sarah are buried in a small family cemetery above the cabin on Middle Grave Creek. Although his official death location is where his will was filed in Ohio County, Virginia it is believed he died in what is now Moundsville, Marshall Co., West Virginia on land he received as a bounty for service in the Revolutionary War. Notes from Fork Ridge Cemetery indicate he was born in 1744. If this is true his son could not have been born in 1744.1 |
