| Note* | The following is a quote from the obituary appearing in the September 26, 1990 edition of the Logan Observer - "Emma C. Dakan, former Persia resident, dies - Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 21, for Emma C. Dakan, formerly of Persia, who died at the Bethesda Care Center of Ashland, NE, Sept. 18, after a lingering illness. The services were conducted by the Rev. Alan Eisinger of Trinity Lutheran church in Persia. Mrs. Dorothy Busch was organist for congregational singing. Bearers were Rick Newland, William Martens, Phillip Martens, Stanley Martens and Donald Dollen. Internment was in Valley View Cemetery, Persia. Emma Christina Dakan was born to Hartwig and Helene Trede Martens, Jan 27, 1900, at Persia. She attended country school in the Persia area and was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran church in Persia. Dec. 10, 1919 she was married to Almor Lee Dakan of Logan. To this marriage were born three children, Marceline, LaVerne, who died at birth, and DeLores. The first few married years they lived in Persia, then during the early 1930's moved to a farm west of town where Almor was born. Emma resided on this farm until 1984, when she moved to Ashland, NE, to reside with her daughter DeLores. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Marceline and Maynard Muxfeldt and DeLores and Jim Barney, Granddaughters Sherrie, Shelly and Nancy and five great grandchildren; a sister, Freeda Cave of Cedarburg, WI, and a sister-in-law, Rose Martens of Independence, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Almor, and a son, LaVerne." Social Security Death Index says her SSN was issued in Iowa and her SSN was 479-56-2081.6 |
