Note* Levering, Morris -- died 18 Jan 1892, aged 81 years. He was born in Whips Cove near Sliding Hill Mountain, in Bedfore (Now Fulton) Co., Penn., 7 Oct 1810. He moved with his parents to Ohio when he was 6 years old. He was married in 1838 & came to Mo. in 1854 & settled in Maysville. The Levering family genealogy (here is some information I have left out about the Levering family)... Morris was the 4th son of William and Ruth (Bryson) Levering and moved in 1816, when 6 years old, with his parents to a new home in the forest in the Owl Creek Valley, Knox Co., Ohio (since 1848 Morris Co.) near Levering's Post office where he was raised. He learned the cabinet makers trade & worked at that trade part of the time until July 5, 1838 when he married with Anner Linn. They then moved to their farm in Morrow Co., Ohio & in Sept of 1854 moving in two two-horse wagons to Mo. intending to locate in Andrew Co., where some of their Ohio friends resided. They laid by one week in Mercer Co. owing to the illness of Mrs Levering. When reaching this then new town of Maysville, Mr Levering feeling unwell and meeting Mr. Oliver Graham, the Dakan family, Nathan Brewer, Thomas Iden and Dr. Black, former Ohio friends, remained a few days to rest and visit with them. They urged him to stay there and he did and bought the Lawson McPherson farm of 320 acres, just outside Maysville. In 1849 Mr and Mrs Levering united with the Baptist Church and were baptized the same day. He leaves a wife, daughter, Mrs Rogers and a son L.W. Levering and their children and his younger brothers Nelson, David and Milton Levering. Burial at Maysville Cemetery."
His obituary contains much about the genealogy of his family which goes back as far as the French Huguenots of the 16th century.2
