According to the 1860 census for Camden Township, Maysville, DeKalb County, Missouri William Dakan had living with him two children whose last name was Harnes. Possibly these children were Susannah's by a previous marriage.

Paul Logan Hogue

     Paul first married Clarice Gardner in 1933. They eloped and were married 6 months before they told anyone. Virginia Hogue (Paul's mother) did not like Clarice or her family. Possibly because her mother was married to three different men. (Gardner, Schaffer, and Wallingford). Paul and Clarice along with Marilyn who was born in about 1934 moved to Idaho about 1935 so Paul could find work. Clarice met another man in Idaho and asked for a divorce, which was granted some time in 1935.
     Paul tried to keep in touch with his daughter, but since Clarice was against it, he soon lost track of her. The new husband adopted her and they moved away to an unknown location.
     Paul moved back to Farmington, Iowa to farm about 1938 where he met and married Maxine Pence in 1940.
     Marriage data from Newspaper Account (Geneseo Republic-15 June 1990) of their 50th Wedding Anniversary. The attending couple was Alfred and Mildred Pence.
     Paul was employed for 31 years at International Harvester Company in East Moline, Illinois. He retired in 1975.
     Paul served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He received a discharge for medical reasons. He worked for International Harvester Company in East Moline, Illinois all of his adult life and retired from that company.
