| Note* | Was the first Dakan to move to Colorado. He did so approx. 1867 and was joined there in 1870 by his brother William Allen. Buried on Boot Hill, Homestead, County 1867 (check forgery) also homesteaded on West Plum Creek 3 years before William. Somehow I (David O. Dakan) think the date of Georges death of 1867 is wrong. That is the same year he went to Colorado. He would hardly had time to construct his homestead let alone die. From 1880 Colorado Census Index from genealogylibrary.com on October 31, 1999 we have the following information Name State County Place Page Year Dakan, George CO Park Co. 4th Precinct 201 1880 Also on the same page in Park County is Hiram Dakan. From the GenWeb for Texas comes the following information: Eastland County Texas Survey has George W. Dakan being the holder of the land certificate and also being awarded the title. This is in abstract # 621 in the county of Eastland and also in the Texas General Land Office in Austin. I (David Dakan) don't know if this person is the same person, since there is no date on the document. It could be that George went to Texas before he went to Colorado. |

| Note* | The Social Security Death Index says his last known address was El Paso, Texas. According to the World War I Draft Registration records from Pecos, Texas, Boyd Buck Dakan was born in Stephenville, Texas on 25 April, 1894. His brother Thomas Uley also registered in Pecos, Texas at the same time. Information from Earlene (Dakan) Hall via Gerome Dakan says he died of a gall blader operation. Apparently Buck had been ill for some time before he died. Same information says he was called Buck. Also a quote from Earlene Hall about Gerome Dakan is as follows: "Gerome Boyd was born April 25, 1893. Married Mattye Lou Wood December 14, 1916 in Fort Stockton, Texas. Had three children. Died October 31, 1971 results from a terrible gall bladder operation - having his heart stop in the operating room - October 20 - never did get any better. Stayed in the intensive care unit until October 30 (Saturday) when they put him in a private room, thinking he was better and would do better out of the ICU. He started having trouble breathing (nurses said) about 11 that night and just slipped away wihtout regaining consciousness. He was alone (except for the nurses) when he died, in Providence Memorial Hospital - we think it was the same room the Aunt Lanie died in - if not it was the room next door. |

| Note* | Harry was listed as a retired farmer on his death certificate. Death records also indicate the cause of death was melaslalic cancer of the liver. Harry may have remarried after his first wife, Mamie died in 1916 as his death certificate says his wife's name was Daisy Dakan, age 56 yrs, of Logan, Iowa when he died in 1947. Harry was living in Union Township, Harrison County, Iowa when his son Almor was married. From "1915 History of Harrison County" by Charles Hunt and Will L. Clark, page 253, comes the fact that H. L.
